3D printing at Skovsporet begins
September 18, 2025
What began as an idea just two years ago is now becoming a reality: Skovsporet, a groundbreaking student housing development in Holstebro. With 36 apartments, the project is on track to become Europe’s largest 3D-printed housing community, setting new standards for both technology and sustainable living.
SKOVSPORET TAKES SHAPE
At the construction site in Holstebro, the COBOD printer, operated by 3DCP Group, plays a central role as it prints walls with millimeter precision, ensuring that every structure meets strict requirements for both durability and insulation. This high level of accuracy is what makes it possible to transition from experimental builds to long-lasting homes.
FROM DESIGN TO REALITY

Unlike traditional student housing projects, Skovsporet is designed as a complete community rather than a single block of apartments. The development consists of six clusters, each containing six apartments, which together form a balanced neighborhood layout. Inside every unit, residents will find a modern kitchen, study area, lounge with sofa, private bathroom, and a spacious double bed. Large roof windows bring natural light into the apartments, making them bright and comfortable spaces where students can focus, relax, and socialize.
REDEFINING HOUSING WITH 3D PRINTING
Skovsporet illustrates how 3D printing can shift from controlled test environments to full-scale, livable housing solutions. The method reduces material waste, speeds up construction timelines, and provides a blueprint for tackling future housing challenges.
Beyond the technology, the project will create a vibrant student community, where young people can live, study, and thrive in homes built with cutting-edge methods.

In the coming months, Skovsporet will steadily take shape until the houses stand complete. For us, it’s a special moment to see the ideation turning into real homes and create an environment for a youthful community to thrive.
